So you think that there won’t be much to do on a tiny Caribbean island, besides swinging in a hammock with a good book? Well, think again. There is more than enough on Bequia to satisfy those seeking adventure, but equally enough opportunity to do nothing at all. Chris and Lou can help you find the right activities, people and places to build your personalised itinerary and create lifelong memories

Above and below the water
Swim in sheltered bays, snorkel or dive on local reefs, hire a kayak, try fishing & cook your catch on a beach BBQ, or take a sailing trip. Ask about present-day conditions and operators before you set out. Chris & Lou have some excellent suggestions
A day under sail
Boat trips can take you towards the private island & celebrity hotspot of Mustique, the idyllic Tobago Cays National Marine Park, and neighbouring Grenadine islands too. The Friendship Rose is one of several operators to choose from. Feel free to ask us about types of boat, routes, and what’s included in each trip
The island on foot
Walking is one of our favourite ways to get under the skin of Bequia. Ma Peggy, Bullet Point, Spring Top, St Hilaire Point, and Hope or Ravine Bay each offer a different perspective. See our hiking guide for the character of each walk. If we have time, we love to guide our guests
An island taxi tour
Open-sided taxis are a memorable way to see Bequia beyond the beaches. Port Elizabeth, the southern end of the island, viewpoints and local makers can all become part of a day shaped around your interests.

Local makers and markets
Spend time around Port Elizabeth’s waterfront, craft shops and galleries. Look out for local fruit, handmade work and the people behind them.
Music and gatherings
Bequia has a lively music culture and events such as the annual music festival and Easter Regatta. Dates and programmes vary: ask Chris and Lou what is happening during your stay.

Wildlife and nature
The island and surrounding water bring hummingbirds, sea birds, turtles and many reef species. Enjoy them respectfully and choose responsible local guides where a tour helps.
A day doing very little
You can also simply move between your private deck at the apartment, to a local beach, and on to sundowners, followed by a tasty dinner at a waterside restaurant. Bequia does not ask you to fill every hour

“Bequia is my favourite island in the Caribbean – and that’s saying something as, over the years, I’ve visited 32 of them. It’s a small island, about five miles long, and with only 5,000 inhabitants, but it feels bigger thanks to its winding roads, hidden tracks, wooded hills, marvellous beaches, and a spectacular harbour filled with yachts.”Hunter Davies, Mail on Sunday, UK
Beyond Bequia
Lying just 9 miles across the Bequia channel, St. Vincent is close enough to consider a day trip. Kingstown’s market and historic streets, Fort Charlotte, the Botanical Gardens, the Vermont Nature Trail, and the green Mesopotamia Valley offer very different perspectives. An adventurous hike will take you to the crater rim of active volcano, La Soufrière. For obvious reasons, a guide is essential, but we can advise as we’ve hiked it both pre & post eruption. Taking a refreshing dip in waterfalls such as the twin Dark View Falls and the Falls of Baleine are further options to consider. Occasional boat trips from Bequia can incorporate trips here.

Across the Grenadines, Mustique offers an unforgettable day trip, the Tobago Cays are simply spectacular, and Canouan has an 18-hole golf course with incredible sea views. There’s also Mayreau & Union Island too. Ask us about current onward connections to Mayreau and Union Island, including routes via St Vincent. A good trip depends on transport, weather, cost and available time. Ask Chris and Lou for help narrowing the options, rather than feeling you must fit everything in
