Practical answers before you travel. Details such as entry rules, weather, ferry services, and local facilities can change. Chris and Lou can help you to check current arrangements
Which apartments can I book?
Choose Ocean Deck or Hummingbird Deck. Each has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and room for one to four guests. For a larger group that would like both apartments, contact Chris and Lou directly.
How do I check dates and reserve?
Use the live calendar as a guide, select your dates and send an enquiry. Chris and Lou confirm availability and the final price personally. You can ask for a free provisional hold for up to five days. Booking is confirmed through the process in the full terms, not by submitting the form.
Is there a minimum stay?
The usual minimum is one week. Christmas, New Year and Easter stays have a ten-day minimum. Extra nights are charged pro rata; ask Chris and Lou to confirm the total for your dates.
What about Children, smoking, and mobility issues?
The apartments welcome guests over 12 years of age. The hillside setting includes steps and a short, steep driveway, so a decent level of fitness & mobility is required. The accommodation is strictly non-smoking
Can you arrange transport from the airport or ferry?
Relax. Chris and Lou can arrange a taxi to meet you at Argyle Airport in St. Vincent, and also at the Bequia ferry wharf. Share your confirmed arrival details in advance. See the getting-here guide for flight and ferry operator links
Do I need a visa?
Entry rules depend on your nationality, passport and length of stay. Check the current requirements with your government and the St Vincent and the Grenadines authorities before travel. British travellers can consult the current FCDO entry guidance.
What currency and payment methods are useful?
The local (& preferred) currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar. US dollars are also accepted in many places, but a business may set its own exchange rate. Cards are useful at larger establishments, while cash is handy for smaller purchases and taxis. Ask your bank about overseas charges.
What are the electricity and Wi-Fi arrangements?
Bequia uses 220–240V, 50Hz electricity and UK-style plugs. The Lookout provides plug adaptors for some overseas devices, but travellers should check that their electronics support the voltage. Wi-Fi is provided in the apartments; island service can occasionally vary.
What should I pack?
Lightweight clothes, swimwear, sun protection, insect repellent and practical walking shoes cover most days. Bequia is generally informal. Bring any essential medication and check airline baggage rules for regional connections.
What about medical care and travel insurance?
Bequia has a hospital, clinics, doctors and pharmacies, with further facilities on St Vincent. Arrange travel insurance that covers your activities and medical evacuation if needed. Check official travel-health advice before departure.
Is tap water safe to drink?
The Lookout collects and filters rainwater. Ask Chris and Lou about the current drinking-water arrangement on arrival; bottled water is also sold locally. Water is a precious resource on the island, so please use it thoughtfully.
What is the weather like?
Bequia is warm throughout the year. Rain, wind and sea conditions vary by season, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November. Check an up-to-date forecast and follow local advice, especially for boat trips and swimming.
Can I drive on Bequia?
The Lookout is in a prime location and the vast majority of what you need is within a radius of just two square miles. Therefore, almost all of our guests choose foot power, local dollar buses, and short taxi rides to get around during their stay. No need to hire a car. Traffic drives on the left. Visitors using a foreign licence need a temporary local driving permit. Confirm the current requirement with a rental company or the local authority before driving
Is Bequia a safe island?
Our advice is simply to be street wise. Bequia is one of the most friendly & welcoming places on earth. Life is stress-free, harmonious and there are no religious or ethnic tensions. So walk down the back streets & pop in to that bar that, at first glance, seems to be for locals only. You will get a warm greeting and make new friends for sure. Bequia is laid-back & genuine but, just like anywhere in the world, don't invite crime and be aware. Remove temptation and never leave valuables in your car, at the bar or lying on the beach
